Nonprofit HR is currently seeking Development Assistants to support our nonprofit clients in the metropolitan DC area. We fill on-call, temporary (short & long term), contract and direct hire positions. JOB DESCRIPTION This job description provides a general guideline to the most common duties, responsibilities, and minimum requirements for this position. It is not all inclusive and the actual position may vary as circumstances indicate. Principle Duties: Activities include but are not limited to: Process and enter payments for donations, make calls to donors regarding declined or expiring credit cards, and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate foundation and individual donors, support proposal development and report writing, assist in identifying and cultivating grants, contracts and agreements Provide customer service to donors and other constituents Support the submission of funding requests (e.g. compiling necessary documents, mailing application package) Continually update and correct database records, upload all donor acknowledgement/ tax receipt information/ grant information to records, complete regular reports and output including adding new constituents and editing existing records Track donor opportunities, research prospects, and support proposal development and report writing Prepare, process and support fundraising appeals and gift acknowledgements Track pre- and post-award funder deadlines Conduct donor and other research as assigned Assist in identifying and cultivating grants, contracts and agreements Update and maintain the grants and contracts calendar Ability to handle confidential donor/constituency information with sensitivity and integrity Calls to donors concerning declined or expiring credit cards Maintaining e-blast and other calendars Assisting with mailings, including creating mail merged documents

Position Specifications: Applicant should have knowledge of donor databases including query, mail and the creation and updating of records. Knowledge of Microsoft programs with an emphasis on Excel is necessary. Applicant should be extremely detail oriented with a dedication to accuracy. Applicant should be confident in essential use of the following tools: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Adobe Acrobat (create and edit PDFs) Web conferencing Social media Data Base Software, such as iMIS, Raiser s Edge, Personify, DonorPerfect, SalesForce, eTapestry, Giftworks, Sage or similar Essential Training/Certifications: Bachelor s degree preferred or relevant work experience 1 to 3 years of experience in an office setting, preferably a nonprofit organization
